Rhetorical Ques.: Not a fan of the president, "change", the government, why not just shut the fuck up? Let those that are, enjoy the moment.

    thought the ethos was that everybody was allowed to say what is on their mind? you have a choice who you listen to, no need to attack freedom of opinion

    Kinda harsh there @BigE; I can feel the meme though, there's a lot of stuff that people like and dislike about the moment and they want to be heard/read too I guess.

    I can see both sides to this argument, though I lean towards @BigE on this one. It's just too annoying sometimes to have to put up with people who like to rain on other people's parade only during the time when everyone is excited/positive about something. For the people who are grouchy about something all the time, I at least know not to pay attention to them. It's the annoying jerks who come out of the woodworks at certain times just to be the negative ones who really irritate me.

    @overpills: Firstly, it was not an "attack". As i clearly stated, it was a rhetorical question, i really was not expecting a response. Too, everyone is so f**king negative on Jaiku lately, it stinks! It's one thing to have an opinion, it's another thing to be insensitive toward the feelings of others. Just ride the wave. Why be negative about something that you (not you specifically) really don't care about?

    @arjw: i can dig it man, but most of this is just pointless drivel -- talk for the sake of talking. It's the revolving door of meaningless opinions. Don't like the way things are, take a personal stand and make a change. Better yet, be the change you want to see. Constantly complaining about the same old stuff, why?

    @jezlyn: Well said.

    true that, but i do think everything needs grounding, otherwise we're go away with the ferries, enjoy our moment, cheer and sing and put so much expectation on the guy that he will collapse. no thinking of consequences, ever, because the most important thing is that we have our bbq and no jerk spoils our mood trying to bring some reason to it...

    @BigE posting something on public forum and 'not expecting a response' is pretty hypocritical. it is also unfair to to throw everybody in the same bag. so what, now i'm not allowed to criticise the culture of sitting on one's arse doing nothing and waiting for a hero to do the work for us because i'm spoiling somebody's day? well tough shit, i say. it's precisely because i do care about these things, that i sya anything in the first place.

    @overpills: Now i'm a hypocrite? i'm not one to rain on anyone's parade, far from it. My point is simple, why spout negative on something that you don't even care about just to be in opposition of those that do care about it. This argument has nothing to do with government, the president, change, or anything of that nature, it has to do with one side being upbeat (for whatever reason) about a current event, and the other side taking a dump all over that for no apparent reason.

    Opinions, as the saying goes, are like a**holes, everybody has one -- doesn't mean we have to see all of them.

    @BigEclipse: could you give us an example of what negative comment you are talking about exactly? i can't quite follow what/who you're pointing at..

    i said it is hipocritical you posting something on public forum and expecting no response.

    there are these who are not negative because they care about events and not to particularly spoil somebody's day. this is international politics, not fucking kindegarden to throw tantrums because some one is spoiling my fun.

    If we "shut up", we cede our duty as responsible citizens to point out where the emperor has no clothes.

    On the other hand, I do agree with BigE's essential point. ; )
